Climbing shoes are generally
categorized in three ways: Neutral, Moderate,
and Aggressive.
Neutral shoes are the most similar
to standard shoes, with a flat design and stiff soles
that provide the most support and comfort.
Moderate shoes have a downturned shape and thinner soles.
This allows the toes to curl downward and essentially
hook small protrusions in rocks. The thin soles are made
up of stickier rubber which provide grip and more
sensitivity.
Aggressive shoes are extremely downturned with even
thinner soles. The sharp downturn improves hooking power
and provides greater heel tension for pulling
off difficult techniques. The thin soles provide greater
grip and feel.

value in the process of finding a cost-efficient shoe.
